In memory of Dr. Jumber Lominadze


Passed away Jumber Lominadze - a prominent Georgian Astrophysicist, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences,  the Chairman of the Georgian Space Agency, the member of the American Physical Society, the member of the International Astronomical Union.
Jumber Lominadze was born in 1930 in Tbilisi, Georgia.  In 1955  he graduated from the Moscow Lomonosov State University with honors. He worked in Cheliabinsk-70 (Russia), at the Institute of Physics of the Georgian Academy of Sciences,  at the I. Vekua Institute of Applied Mathematics, was the Director of the Abastumany Astrophysical Observatory (1992-2000), since 2000 was the Director of Plasma Astrophysics Centre , the branch of E. Kharadze   Abastumany Astrophysical Observatory. Under his initiative was created  an International School in Plasma Astrophysics Varena –Abastumani and he was appointed as the Director of this School.
In 1988 Jumber Lominadze was elected as a full Member of the Georgian Academy of Sciences. He worked at  Ivane Javakhishvili State University and  at  Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani Pedagogical Institute.
Jumber Lominadze was awarded with an Order of Vakhtang Gorgasali, Third Degree. other state diplomas and awards.
